OQ (LUBAN) applies $150/MT war-related surcharge on shipments from March 1
OQ Marketing LLC (LUBAN) has announced the implementation of a War Related Surcharge (WRS) of USD 150 per metric ton on all containerized shipments sailing on or after March 1, 2026. The move follows a broader decision by major international shipping lines to introduce additional charges amid ongoing geopolitical tensions impacting global logistics and maritime routes.

The surcharge will be applicable to all outbound shipments and comes into effect immediately for relevant cargo movements. According to the communication, this added cost is being imposed by shipping lines due to the current external environment and is not an initiative taken independently by OQ.

Due to the scale and unavoidable nature of the increase in freight costs, the company has stated that it is not feasible to absorb the surcharge. As a result, the additional cost will be passed on to customers through revised pricing.

The decision reflects the growing pressure on global supply chains, particularly in key shipping corridors affected by geopolitical risks. Market participants are expected to factor in these rising logistics costs, which could further impact trade flows and pricing dynamics in the near term.
