In a customer notice, the company said worsening security conditions have affected major maritime chokepoints, particularly the Strait of Hormuz and parts of the Red Sea, where heightened military activity and security threats have forced vessels to face delays, rerouting, or cancellations.
AGC Vinythai, a producer of PVC, ethylene dichloride (EDC), and vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), noted that shipping companies are introducing precautionary measures such as route adjustments and stricter security protocols. The company also said some carriers have unexpectedly suspended services due to the evolving situation.
In addition, several shipping lines have imposed war-risk and premium freight surcharges without prior notice, further complicating logistics and increasing transportation costs.
According to the company, these developments may extend transit times and delay cargo deliveries. However, AGC Vinythai said efforts are ongoing to continue dispatching shipments under the currently available logistics conditions.
